Alfonso began his studies in Oviedo, continuing them at the Guildhall School of Music in London, the Banff Center for the Arts in Canada and the Hochschule für Musik of Basel and Frankfurt where, as the fellowship violist at the Ensemble Modern, he obtained the IEMA Master’s Degree in Contemporary Music.

In 2022 and 2023 he is invited as viola solo with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Musikfabrik, Remix Ensemble, Ensemble Resonanz, Hong Kong New Music Ensemble, OSPA and Norrbotten NEO.

He has given master classes at Montana State University and Tulane and Loyola Universities in New Orleans, at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Valencia and at the Banff Center for the Arts in Canada.

Alfonso has performed as a violist in the ensembles of the Lucerne Festival, Spoleto USA and Britten Pears in Aldeburgh and also with the London Sinfonietta, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Bern, with whom he recorded the album “Plaisirs Iluminés”, awarded best album of the year by the BBC Magazine in 2022.

In 2009 he received the Birmingham Chamber Music Society Award and is co-founder of the Ciclo de Música Contemporánea de Oviedo, member of Vertixe Sonora and co-founder of the 4Sonora project.

He is currently a student at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he is studying a Master’s degree in Cultural Management and a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing.
