Nuno Marques

Born in 1988, in Porto (Portugal), he began to learn classical guitar with teacher Maria Paula Marques, at the age of 10. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Portugal, with professor José Pina, he moved to Switzerland in 2010 to study at the University of Basel, under the direction of prof. Stephan Schmidt. He won several first and second prizes in international guitar competitions in Europe, such as the Josefina Robledo International Competition (Valencia, Spain), B.O.G. Foundation Competition (Switzerland), Concurso Internacional de Guitarra do Fundão (Portugal), Prémio Jovens Músicos da RDP (Portuguese Classical Radio Prize) and Victor Pellegrini International Guitar Competition (Switzerland). A large part of his current musical focus is on contemporary music.
